Lara Ganz

Adjunct Instructor in Dance

Lara Ganz began her dance training in Miami, Florida where she attended the prestigious New World School of the Arts and graduated with a major in dance and high honors.  She has also studied at:  North Carolina School of the Arts, Ballet Concerto, and with the Jose Limon company’s summer program. Some of her teachers include; Freddick Bratcher, Fanchon Cordell, Gerard Ebitz, Melissa Hayden, Geri Houlihan, Allegra Kent, Ted Kivitt, Daniel Lewis, Cuca Martinez, Judith Newman, and Risa Steinberg

Lara attended Bard College, where she continued dancing while pursuing a Chemistry Major. She continued her education at Vermont Law School. After receiving her law degree and practicing for five years, Lara decided to return to her beloved dance full time.

Lara has been teaching dance for over 20 years.  In 2004, she opened Dream Studio Dance and Movement in Rhinebeck and in 2005 she founded Verítas Dance Company (a dance company for children and young adult interested in performing original works and repertoire).  For over a decade Ganz has created many original works including:  Mi Buenos Aires, Pink, Un-tethered Voice, Penumbras, and Minds and Masters. Her company has performed at Ulster Performing Arts Center, the LUMA Theater at the Richard B. Fisher Center for Performing arts.  In the spring of 2015 Verítas Dance Company performed  “Kate” created in collaboration with, and performed by Martial Crenshaw.

Lara’s students have gone on to attend The Alvin Ailey School Summer Intensive, Joffrey

School of Ballet, The Martha Graham School of Dance, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Marymount Manhattan College.
