Associate Professor of Psychology
Carolyn Palmer earned her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Drucker Brain Injury Center. She has been at Vassar College since 1992, teaching courses in developmental psychology at all levels of the curriculum. She studies, and teaches about, the ecology of human development. Her research areas include the organization of practical action, early action development, children's understanding of action limits and danger, and the development of musical understanding. In future directions, she anticipates studying action development in specific social and emotional contexts.
